Wauwatosa West High School is excited to announce Andy Kolstad as it’s new Head Football Coach.
On December 20, 2018, Andrew Kolstad was named the new Head Football Coach at Wauwatosa West High School. Kolstad has been an assistant coach on staff as well as a mathematics teacher at Wauwatosa West since 2015. Kolstad said “I cannot describe how grateful and excited I am to have this opportunity. Phil Ertl, Frank Calarco, Jeff Gabrielsen, Matt Good, and so many others supported me at an important time in my life and allowed me to become a part of their community here in 2015. It’s been amazing. I am so thankful to so many people and also to my wife for doing this with me. I have completely fallen in love with Wauwatosa and the kids that walk these hallways. I am humbled at this opportunity and will do everything I can to help these kids.”
Coaching football exists deep in the family lineage of Kolstad. Howard Kolstad (Andrew’s Grandfather) was the head football coach at St. Norbert College from 1969 to 1982. His father, John, was the head football coach at Green Bay East High School form 1987 to 2008. Andy’s brother Ben has been a head football coach in North Carolina for the past 12 years. “Football is common topic of conversation at family gatherings,” laughed Kolstad. “I’ve been fortunate in that my own family has taught me quite a bit about this game and the psychology that comes with it.”
