The combined efforts of Corey Bauer and Kent Morin continue to drive Tosa Wrestling both on and off the mat. This year’s varsity lineup consisted of 10 wrestlers with little or no previous varsity experience that included 4 Freshman and 5 Sophomores. Coach Morin reached a big milestone with his 300th career win this season. The guidance of Coaches Morin & Bauer helped guide this young and inexperienced team to a 21&7 dual record, 2nd place (tie) finish in conference duals, third place at conference tournament, and the program’s 7th team regional championship in the past 8 years. They had 11 sectional qualifiers and one state qualifier, who placed 4th in only his third season of wrestling. Off the mat the team of 35 wrestlers excels in the classroom and combined for a 3.2 GPA. The team Regional Championship was not expected at the beginning of the season and was possible in large part due to the efforts of Coach Morin and Coach Bauer to motivate and teach these young wrestlers what it takes to succeed.
Athletic Director Jeff Gabrielsen commented, “Coach Morin and Coach Bauer are two of our best coaches in our Athletic Department. Their success does not surprise me because they run a great program. Team success is very cyclical depending on individual talent. At Wauwatosa, we have program success due to awesome coaches!”
Congratulations Coach Morin & Coach Bauer!
