Tosa West defeated Nicolet in dramatic fashion on Tuesday night to move to 5-0 on the season. With 1.3 seconds left, Nicolet took their first lead of the game by making the first of two free throws to make the score 56-55. Tosa West has held the lead throughout, leading 38-28 at half, but struggled to score in the second half and the lead was reliquished for the first time with the free throw. The second freethrow was missed and Tosa West called timeout on the rebound. Originally only 0.7 showed on the clock, but it was changed to 1.1 seconds. With 3/4 court to go, Janessa Runyan threw a high arcing pass to Kayla Stoffel on the opposite side of the court. Kayla caught it and put up a shot from 6 feet behind the three point arc…it was money. The Trojans, who saw their lead evaporate in the final second of the game, escaped with a win on a buzzer beater by a score of 58-56. Irene Phillips led the Trojans with 17 points. Kalyah Allen and Kayla Stoffel also our up double figures, scoring 11 points and 10 points respectively. Tosa West will return to action on Friday night at home in a conference game against Germantown at 7:15. Germantown enters the game ranked #6 in the state in division 1.
