The Tosa West Trojans defeated West Allis Hale 51-44 on Tuesday night. The win improves Tosa West’s record to 8-5 overall and 3-4 in conference play. The Trojans jumped out to a 10 point lead in the first half, leading 18-8. From there it was a back forth game with Tosa West leading 31-22 at halftime. Partway through the second half, the Huskies went on a 15-0 scoring run to turn a Trojan 35-25 lead into a 40-35 Huskies lead. Tosa West showed great resolve though, closing the game out on a 16-4 run to get the 51-44 win. Irene Phillips led the way for Tosa West scoring 21 points. It was her second consecutive 21 point game and her 5th time scoring 20+ points in a game this season. Olivia Bree also played a big role in the win as she scored 13 points and 13 rebounds to notch a double double. Maliya Harris scored 9 for Tosa West, all in the second half. Kayleigh Reske and Katie McCabe scored the rest of the Trojan points with 6 points and 2 points respectively. Tosa West finishes up the first round of conference play as the travel to Divine Savior on Friday night at 7:15. Divine Savior currently sits atop the Greater Metro Conference at 6-0. Their overall record is 9-2 and they are ranked #10 in the state for Division 1.
