Tosa West was defeated by Brookfield Central by a score of 40-39 on Tuesday night. The Trojans got out to a hot start taking a 14-4 lead, but the momentum slowly shifted to Brook Central as they chipped away and ultimately took a 27-22 lead into halftime. Brook Central led for much of the second half, but Tosa West came back to tie the game in the final minutes. With under a minute left, the game was tied 39-39, but a Trojan foul put Brook Central on the line with 14 seconds remaining. CJ Romero for Brook Central made the front end of a 1 and 1 to give the Lancers the lead. She would miss the second free throw and Tosa West game down and got a very good look at a 3 pointer as time was running out, but it was just short and Brook Central hung on for the victory. The Trojans played great defense in the game shutting out Anna Mortag, Brookfield Central’s leading scorer. Anna entered the game averaging 17.6 ppg. Brookfield Central’s Maddy Brauer led the Lancers in scoring with 17 points, but all 17 points came in the first half. After some halftime adjustments, Tosa West shut her out in the second half as well. Ultimately, it was free throw shooting that proved costly for Tosa West as they only shot 10-26 from the free throw line. Next up for the Trojans is a non-conference home game against Carmen Northwest on Friday at 7:15pm.
