The Tosa West girls basketball team lost to Sussex Hamilton b a score of 54-43 on Tuesday night. While they weren’t able to defeat the Chargers, the game had a much different feel to it than the first time the two teams played, which was a 61-36 Chargers win. Tosa West played Sussex tight for most of the first half but a late run on by the Chargers gave them a 34-22 lead heading into the locker room. A quick start by the Chargers in the second half pushed the lead to 17 points but the Trojans battled back cutting the lead to 9. This was as close as they would get though as Sussex was able to hang on for the win. Katie McCabe led the Trojans in scoring with 12 points, and tied Janessa Runyan and Olivia Bree for the team lead with 6 rebounds. Taylor Tagliavia continued to shoot well, scoring 9 points all from behind the arc. Bree chipped in 8 points to go along with her 6 rebounds and led the team with 3 assists. Next up for the Trojans is the final regular season home game. Tosa West will take on cross-town rival Tosa East at 7:15pm. It is also senior night and senior players Maggie Kleier and Kalyah Allen, along with manager Madison Liebenthal, will all be honored prior to the varsity warmups.
