The Trojans played a tremendous game against Germantown last night. Though they gave up two goals in the first 20 minutes, the Trojan defense tightened up and locked down the Germantown attack for the rest of the first half. Brooke Fuerstenau was great in goal throughout, coming off her line and cleaning up problems before they could become goals. The Trojans also had their chances in the first half, developing a number of high-percentage opportunities against a vulnerable Germantown backline. After some halftime adjustments, the Trojans came roaring back, scoring two unanswered goals to knot it up at 2-2. Goals were scored by seniors Irene Phillips and Emma Gabriel, with an assist from sophomore Janessa Keenan on the first goal, and key passes from Isabella Jacobson and Taylor Pribbernow in the build-up to the second. Despite going behind again off of a deflected strike, the Trojans remained the more dangerous team until the 75th minute, when their lack of numbers began to tell. Coming into the game, the Trojans were already down several key players due to injury, and lost two more over the course of the match. In the end, the Trojans were simply outnumbered. Special shout out to holding midfielders Janessa Keenan and Isabella Jacobson, who played the full 90 minutes and worked unbelievably hard from start to finish.
