West gave #2 seed Tosa East all it could handle, but East scored single tallies in the 7th and 8th to squeak by with a 3-2 extras inning victory in the second round of the regional playoffs. This was the Trojans’ 4th consecutive one-run game.
Colton Scharf pitched a great game, working into the 7th inning and giving up only 2 runs. West’s outfield trio of Jon Baumler, Spencer Whitlock and Luke Huitink were outstanding all night, each making exceptional catches. Will Cape and Mitch Fassbender knocked in the Trojans’ runs, with James Lee and Fassbender having a pair of hits apiece.
Many thanks to everyone who supported us this season, often doing so in far less than ideal weather conditions. Our players finished the season strong with a playoff win over Marquette, West’s first playoff victory since 2013, and by pushing the #2 seed to the limits. Their hard work and refusal to quit paid off with a string of very well-played games at season’s end. We’re very proud of how hard the boys played and how they represented us, our school and our community. Thank you!
